Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

Without a doubt he is demanding Winnipeg trade him to one of those teams for peanuts, at 50% retained.

Jets should just let him sit at home not getting paid. Motherfucker re-signed for 7 years only three years ago. No one put a gun to his head and forced him to do that.
I would just tell him. Nobody wants you, you're too expensive

Florida will somehow figure out how to get him. It’s fine. He sucks in the playoffs.

Thanks for ensuring that the return is 50 cents on the dollar and making a trade that much harder by going public with this.

26-27: $104.0
27-28: $113.5 (+9.1%) - I think this cap is set already
28-29: $123.0 (+8.4%) - I think this is the most recent projection

then using's Dom's 7% there...

29-30: $131.6
30-31: $140.8
31-32: $150.7
32-33: $161.2
33-34: $172.5
34-35: $184.6

What sucks about this is that players who aren't close to as good as him, but are nonetheless the best players on their team, will get enormous contracts they don't deserve because they'll argue that they're no more than $2M or $3M worse than Makar, and so now they're going to be $17m and $18m guys. This summer's hyper inflationary explosion destroyed relative contract parity between the best players and will probably shut down the league.

Y'all gonna need 45m to sign McDavid and Matthews

Take Matthews. If he is "just" 40 goal Matthews this year, which I think we might all be happy with given what happened last year and his chronic injuries, what is his fair value. Can't be the $18M that Celebrini just got, but it will be anyway because he's the best player. And now his $18M doesn't even look like it's so much if Makar is making $20M. And then there's McDavid, who is better than both of them by a fair margin. Now he can't be held to the Celebrini number and will get more than $20M. But if we chase him, and Matthews isn't already signed and extended, I don't see how you can give Matthews less than him and keep him happy. Clusterfuck all the way around.

Can't look at dollar value with the cap exploding like this. The cap, and salaries have been held down artificially for 6 years.

Matthews current cap hit% under the 28-29 cap is $18.7 mill.

What is interesting with Makar is that dmen haven't made as much as forwards. Though in fairness Makar is probably the best player in the league.

Matthews and McJesus have the same agent.
This isn’t going to be a problem.

McDavid fucked us and himself by signing that extension. Now was the time to come over. When instead of those bottom sixers we could've paid him before things got too out of hand. And then he just sets the ceiling for Matty a year from now. Too bad he blew it with that incomprehensible early reup in the worst fucking place in the entire league, whose team is actually going to bottom out now while he's still on it.
