2026-27 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

FWIW, Nikishin has been in South Florida working out in a private facility with other unsigned NHLers. Carolina will probably want to do some benchmark work with Billy and then make a plan for getting him up to speed. He only signed last night, so I wouldn't expect him to be here until tomorrow. Again, I'd 100% send his ass to Chicago to play a couple of games before putting him on the active NHL roster ... both for practical and petty reasons.

If they want to be petty, make a short-term development deal with Fayetteville and send him to the 'Nam to play for the Marksman and live in a ratty Econolodge for a week. I will only lightly heckle him :D

There are practical concerns as well. Carolina doesn't really practice much when they're on a regular game schedule like this coming couple of weeks. They play every other day between tomorrow and October 7th, with a road trip during the next work week. I'd bet they don't have more than 2 full team practices in that stretch ... if that many. Then, they have four days off before playing in Seattle on 10/12. Meanwhile, Chicago does their usual weekend heavy thing, but they get a chance to practice during the week. He could get 3-4 full team workouts and get a couple of AHL games under his belt this weekend and then meet the team in Nashville on 10/3 with a much better chance to be up to speed. Of course, he won't want to do that, but if I was the Canes I'd definitely ask the question.

Seattle, that famous suburb of Helsinki 😉

Of course, good point about the lack of practices.. I think he will get a Wolves conditioning stint for some game action.

Just click the 'pop out' button at top right and it will open in a new tab or window. When I am on my work computer or near one at home I will post the postgame pressers in one post like this so you guys can see them easier. Unfortunately I can't do it from my phone because of the storage issue. But, I will do it when i can.
