It basically got them within a couple of goals of the Cup in 2020. They lost the ECF to Tampa in game 7 1-0. Had they won they probably would have beaten the Canadiens in the final. They also lost the ECF to Tampa 4-2 the year before. They were the closest team to beating Tampa during their...
Think about this though: we’ve played the islanders several times in the past few years. Despite the years and the coaching changes, this isles have had more or less the same talent level, talent distribution and style each time. Each time it’s appeared close game by game. Remember the 2019...
The trend outside North America is actually toward NHL dimensions and away from Olympic dimensions. I can’t cite the reason for that. But as long as that continues and all other things being equal there’s no real pressure on the NHL to do anything about rink size.

And it’s not just last night for the islanders. They’ve been blowing 3d per. leads all year. Remember the Stadium Series disaster 3d against the Rangers? They had a chance last night to end months of failure when it mattered most and failed spectacularly. So I understand the frustration. But...
I’ve seen a lot of hockey games and in the past 48 hours I’ve seen two things that I’d never seen before. First was that crazy triple post goal in the Winnipeg game. Second was a team scoring with their own goalie pulled and then scoring again with the other team’s goalie pulled.
Playoffs.
I’m a little surprised. But I guess riding a guy who is prone to injury is a little easier in the playoffs with all the off days, and Pyotr usually doesn’t have ill effects from sitting on the bench.
