There isn't a better time to snap our losing streak with Auston taking on his hometown (and childhood) team.
This is the first time the Leafs face the Yotes since the draft, and the Yotes are in pretty sad state, with Vrbata as their leading scorer, Max Domi out of lineup (hand injury from a...
With a ES SA/60 of 32.3 (29th, only better than Arizona) and All Situations SA/60 of 32.2 (28th in league), the Leafs are among one of the worst defensive teams of the league. Now with a rookies heavy lineup, that is kind of expected ... and obviously an area that requires much improvement both...
(Sorry, this is take II ... I forgot WPG in take I)
Sparked by the TSN intermission discussion last night, I think this is a very interesting topic.
Let me quantify the question though.
- By YOUNG I am setting the cutoff line at 24 or below, reason is if the intention is to project who will...
Sparked by the TSN intermission discussion last night, I think this is a very interesting topic.
Let me quantify the question though.
- By YOUNG I am setting the cutoff line at 24 or below, reason is if the intention is to project who will be the best teams in the NHL in ~ 5 years time, 24...
After taking care of business vs. the Oilers, we get to face the Flames on back-to-back nights.
The Oilers were the toughest game in this Canadian west coast swing, and we should be able to take care of the 26th place Flames. The only thing is Enroth has been pretty subpar, so we've really...
The leafs get off on a west coast swing and it is an interesting road trip because ...
1- Kadri vs. McDavid, Babs vs McLellan ... Oilers definitely looking to even things up tonight
2- then the Leafs will face the Canucks, and we remembered the fireworks in the last TOR-VAN tilt
3- then the...
Price snapped our short winning streak but it's time to start another one vs. the suddenly hot Canes. THe Leafs go from facing an elite goaltender to a hot goalie.
Many scratched their head when Ron Francis kept Ward, but so far this season Ward is rewarding their GM, looking every bit as good...
As far as a rebuilding season 1 goes, it doesn't get much better than this - Leafs have won 2 in a row, Marner & Co. are rolling and we get to face the East leading Habs, who have lost 2 in a row - on HNIC Sat night.
And Price will be in goal tonight, last time we faced Price we played a really...
The Panthers are in town again and Reim will indeed start tonight's game. We beat them 3-2 in late October. Reim has posted a .905 SV% so far this year with the Panthers, which isn't all that good ... lets hope he doesn't use game against his former team as a stepping stone to get back on track...
The buds have won 2 in a row, played 3 good games in the last 4, and we're going into National Broadcast HNIC game vs. a lifeless Canucks team.
We really should win this one handily and use that as a building block of confidence for the rest of the way.
5 things to watch for tonight ...
1...
Right after the Matthews vs. McDavid showdown (which Kadri decided to steal the show :) ) this was scheduled to be a Matthews vs Eichel showdown.
Except Eichel is injured.
Nevertheless, the Leafs played a good game vs. Oil, let's see if we can string 2 good games together and get another 2...
Leafs have lost 2 games in a row, 1 game where they've played as well as they have all season as a team (IMO anyways) and the other where they played like crap.
EDM was on a roll but was stopped in Ottawa. They sure want to get back on winning side of thigns
Auston and McDavid were linemates...
Growing pain, yes, but it still leaves a sour taste in your mouth blowing a 4 goal lead and walking away with only 1 point. Good thing is, they get to redeem themselves 24 hours later.
Leafs got a Wild date tonight, and I think we'll see Enroth's debut tonight.
I'm hoping we'll see some...
This is the catch-all season thread for 16/17 season
Last few seasons we called it the ****ing season thread ... and they have indeed turned out to be ****ing seasons ... tank is over now the top kids have made the team, we don't need any more ****ing seasons ... let's hope this will be the...
Andersen getting his start tonight, and I can't wait to see how he plays.
So far, all the question marks heading into pre-season has been answered with positive answers ... like :
- Is Matthews the 'real deal'? (Oh yes!)
- Is Marner ready for the NHL (Yes, for sure)
- Is Zaitsev as good as...
Just realized there's a game on tonight.
Dunno about the lineup tonight, just now that Sparks is starting and Matthews is not playing. Nylander and JVR are playing though
Yes. And, not all SV%'s are the same. Andersen has shown a lot more consistency in his young career than Reimer or Bernier has shown.
I remember I brought this up in a separate goalie thread before ... but Andersen had a very low % of 'bad starts' or 'subpar starts' and his consistency was...
This started off as a post on the Andersen thread, but I think this topic (and the work I've poured into it) deserves its own thread :)
We all know SV% is a key performance indicator of goalies. And we also know that SV% stays relatively consistent for the same goalie when he goes from good...
Ok guys, so I had a bit of time and I wanted to see how Andersen's consistency compares to the rest of the goalies. A lot has been said of his consistency, and I agree the SV% being one stat, but how many games does a goalie delivers 'average' or 'good' or 'great performance' is more important...
How much 'pain' are we going to have this season? Let the new season begin with the biggest star this season behind the bench.
I don't have much expectation for the season, and I seriously look forward to the Marlies season a lot more. Nevertheless it is interesting to see how some players...
