Obviously, anything over 8 would be dumb. Wheeler about to get released, Monahan used to put up the same numbers as PLD. You don't tie up that kind of money in a 50-60pt guy.
Smith/Benson/Leonard are still great prospects, but I don't see any being THAT much better than the other. So, it won't matter if you pick 6/7/8 at that point. I'll just be upset if we waste our 5th on Reinbacher, just feel he's going to be decent but I don't see the scoring for him to be a top...
Just feel LM/Hutson are going to be just as good if not more offensive upside than him and don't want to trade either. You are going to pay premium money for Pesce for his contract and to acquire him, doesn't really make sense.
So you want to trade a slightly worse player (but who could put up easily similar numbers over a full season) AND who is going to make 1/8th the amount + a first rounder? Ca fait pas de sense ca.
Why don’t we keep 5 so we can get Michkov and then use Anderson+ to get another mid first. After Michkov who has superstar potential there are so many guys who are hard to separate on talent. Reinbacher/smith/benson/Leonard/Dvorsky.
Habs are looking to start winning in 1-2 years for playoff money. So it’s not surprising we pass on the better player for someone who can play in the short term. If we pass on Michkov for Leonard, that would be stupid as hell. Leonard doesn’t have anywhere close to the same upside.
If we get Michkov, there’s no possibility of him playing here for 2 or 3 years? It’s not a bad thing, we sign PLD in 1 year then have another year with a decent pick and then go guns blazing in 2-3 years.
If anyone's seen Rangers game the last couple of years, Laf's superstar allure has kind of faded. I think he's a borderline 2nd line player. Michkov has 1st line star potential, so why would you downgrade and then have to pay Laf more money?
Also doubt Rangers are trading both in the same...
I just hope that if it's between Michkov and guys like Benson/Dvorsky, that we don't fk things up. At that point, you might be better having a trade in place than drafting the second tier guys.
It's been said many times. There are a bunch of fans who just want to go to the Bell, drink and watch a habs win here and there. It's been 30 years since we touched the cup with many ups and downs, so most fans just want a playoff caliber team. Look, even if we finished 4th, we had an extra what...
