Yeah, Evans is having a career year. I don't expect him to repeat a 31% shooting percentage.
Gourde is pretty much on pace for his normal stats, and has some of the best analytics on the Kraken. But my point was just to show that there is some options.
I like Evans too, but last year I was starting to get over him, but he finished the season well and has been playing exceptionally well this year. I prefer going with the player we know in general.
And I think you're underestimating Gourde, that guy is a beast. Got to watch him live many times...
Yeah I don't think he's ever been really serious about it. And just because you wrote a few blogs and got a few picks right doesn't make you qualify to run a scouting department.
Kerfoot could be another option. He was signed on a 2 years contract 2 years ago, not sure why we would need to got 5 years with Evans.
And let's be honest, there is a bit of a recency bias, I was willing to dump him last year when he had 2 goals in his first 49 games.
Brisebois was working on on NHL and MLB arbitration cases through his firm, so that got him some exposure. Tulsky did his work in hockey analytics and fetched a few NHL consulting gigs before getting hired by Carolina. Teams are just not going to offer you jobs out of nowhere unless they know...
There is a path, a difficult one, for outsiders to make their work into the hockey world, but you have to put in the work, as for the most part, it is a boys club and more about connection and familiarity than actual skill.
I don't think Boisvert actually put in the necessary work to try to...
I'd like to keep Evans for the transition, I think we can use him well for the next 3 years exactly for the reasons you said, and like I said in year 3 is when he's potentially starting to get phased out. I'm fine with a 4 years x 3.5M. I just think 5 years at 4M is a bit long, and at that price...
That’s a bit rich for me. My biggest issue is that he’s probably getting pushed out the team by year 3 of his contract. Lots of things can happen but we’re likely looking at Suzuki, Dach, Hage, Beck and even Kapanen by then at center. 5x4 will make him difficult to trade.
I see Dvorak and Armia being replaced by Beck and Demidov. I don't see Pezzetta returning so someone will be the 13th forward. Not sure who, maybe someone like Tuch.
