OK, if Mikko wants to look later, then that tells me he's not gonna ever sign with the Canes. I don't think our team is strong enough to have a good playoff run with or without him, so we might as well try and get something in return by tomorrow. Having said that, I really wanted him to stay...
Rumor is that we've met his number (whatever that is), or at least we're very close. So, if he hasn't signed then he obviously doesn't want to play here or thinks he can make more later on. If he was playing lights out, then I'd keep him. But he isn't (although he's damn strong on the puck...
We deserved the win, but we sure didn't make it easy. Lots of opportunities - mostly missed opportunities. As bad as our PP is (and it truly stinks) at least we were able to enter the zone and set it up - which was in stark contrast to the Oiler game. But watching us slowly and predictably pass...
It's unusual for me to say this, but KK is the least is the least of my worries right now. Our first period play collectively was as disjointed as it has been - even against a team that was not all that good last night. I'm also getting tired of saying the same thing about our woeful PP - sure...
IF Rod decides to ditch the goalie rotation (and I'm not at all sure he should until one provides an outstanding effort in at least 1-2 games), I also don't know who to trust with the #1 job. As bad as Freddie has been, I still have a slightly higher faith that he'll get his game together - BUT...
I was impressed with Blake last night - except when he blew a pass during our first PP - but he doesn't let his mistakes get him down. His grit and energy were on display all night long. I think JB's suggested pairing with Hall is a great idea.
Nice to feel good and walk away from the arena with a much-needed win. Nothing makes a disgruntled fan take a step back from the precipice like a resounding win. I should know because I was inching closer to the edge myself.
Maybe we should do more Whaler nights - we certainly have played well...
Today's article in The Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6153202/2025/02/26/nhl-agent-poll-anonymous/
An anonymous survey by agents, who don't show much love for the Carolina Hurricanes organization. I could consider that as a badge of honor.
This! Our best players (with a few exceptions) aren't performing at an acceptable level. The flow and execution from this team isn't what it was early in the year and we're still in a mediocre-at-best funk. We've all seen what they're capable of when it's all working, but it isn't working right...
Glad I quit watching in the 2nd. Having two abysmal performances in a row, is something we haven’t usually experienced and yet here we are. Houston, we have a problem.
