No way Arizona is moved out East. They literally just balanced the conference and those teams in the EST will NOT agree to move to the West.

Houston/KC/Austin/Portland are all viable. OKC is also an outside shot with about a million people in the greater metro area and an arena that can be modified for hockey.

They will have options in the west.

Austin doesn’t have an arena, unless the soon to open Moody Center at UT does, but that’s probably too close to completion to retrofit NHL locker rooms. The arena the Texas Stars play in only seats 8,000. The others are viable options though.

There is no way the NHL puts a team in Austin while Houston goes without a franchise.
Again ... unless there's an owner dedicated to making it happen in Houston, then it won't happen there. The arena is satisfied with what they have, the city seems cool with NFL, college sports, NBA, MLB and MLS/NWSL. It's not like the market is starving for pro sports or starving for hockey. Austin is twice the size of Quebec City right now and growing every year. If there are some motivated deep pockets, then why not?

Really any city. Everyone overlooks the fact that Dundon has the operating rights for the arena. All the existing arenas have owners who probably won’t give up non-hockey revenue. So unless Clutch City Sports and Entertainment, AEG or Quebecor Media are willing to forego revenue, Dundon isn’t moving to Houston, Portland, Kansas City or Quebec City. And the Yotes would be rent payers in those places too, so they’d have to hope for a better agreement than they have from Glendale.

Now that Paul Allen died Portland might be more of an option. I think his sister runs the estate now. He never married or had kids. They had a WHL team in the arena so it's hockey ready. WHL team moved back to the older small arena as of this year.

Legend, man. Mr Ranger. The mayor of freaking New York officiated the man's wedding.
For those who grew up In the New York TV market, Sal Marciano was a local TV legend, working for all 3 network stations at one time or another. His daughter tweeted yesterday that when the Rangers won the Cup in 1994, she, her father and Gilbert went to the old MSG site at 49th St. and 8th Ave. and raised a glass to all who came before.

When I was a kid, Gilbert, Jean Ratelle and Vic Hadfield formed the GAG Line (Goal a Game). Then the Rangers broke it up by trading Hadfield to the Pens and, a few years later, traded Ratelle and Brad Park to the Bruins for Phil Esposito and Carol Vadnais.

I remember Gilbert and Ratelle from the weekly Rangers games the old man and I would watch in Corning before moving here in 74.

Former NHLer Jimmy Hayes died, he was 31. He played 334 games in 7 seasons for Chicago, Florida, Boston and New Jersey and had 54 goals, 55 assists.

Whoah. No word on cause, but jeez man ... 31.

Kevin Hayes' brother, for anyone wondering.

The Flyers signed Derrick Brassard, 1 year/$825k. He had 8 goals, 12 assists for Arizona last year.

Brassard is ... not good ... but at least he's cheap and knows their system. He can still defend the middle of the ice a bit.
