2023 Habs Lineup

Habsy

Not playing around anymore.
So this will change by puck drop but we have a pretty good idea what the team will look like

Newhook-Suzuki-Caufield
Slafkovsky-Dach-Anderson
Hoffman-Monahan-Gallagher
Pezzetta-Evans-Armia
Dvorak
Farrell (likely AHL)

Drouin?

Matheson-Edmundson
Guhle-Savard
Harris-Barron
Kovacevic-Xhekaj

Allen
Montembeault

Still yuck

4 -5 players will gone

Hopefully we can switch Slaf with Newhook halfway thru the season and distribute size throughout the lineup

Hoping Heineman earns a spot. At this point they need to consider buying out Hoffman and trading Gallagher at half price, they are just progress stoppers.

I'm honestly surprised one of Edmundsson or Dvorak haven't been traded.

They've officially landed in the famed Progress Stopper slot.

If Edmundson is on the roster at the beginning of the season, Xhekaj's starting in Laval.

Why?

They're not winning anything this year so why buy out a guy that's likely to be on LTIR by December and Hoffman has one year left. Depending on health and season you may get something for Hoffman at deadline.

You don't buy out Hoffman. He's a pure shooter. Some team will want him on deadline day (or will settle for him when the player they really want slips through their fingers and they get desperate - think Leafs)

We actually agree. Just for his PP you could get a third rounder minimum at deadline.
Depending on how desperate the other team is to add scoring punch at the deadline you could do better than that even. Teams loading up for playoff runs get stupid on deadline day. If Hoffman has any sort of decent season he could get us a first.

Don't think it's worth giving him top 9 minutes and pp time all year long to maybe get a 3rd round pick. We're past the talent acquisition phase now we're developping IMO.

Dach-Suzuki-Caufield

Slafkovsky-monohan -Anderson

Hoffman-newhook -Gallagher

I doubt it would actually go like this, but I'd still go for something like:

Caufield-Suzuki-Anderson
Dach-Monahan-Gallagher
Newhook-Dvorak-Hoffman
RHP-Evans-Armia
Pezzetta
UFA

Slafkovsky -> AHL
Farrell -> AHL

Besides the Guhle-Savard pairing, I don't know how to do the other 5. I guess I'll keep the same as Habsy.
Matheson-Edmundson
Guhle-Savard
Harris-Barron
Kovacevic

Xhekaj -> AHL

Montembeault
Allen
