You know by now what the Hurricanes are all about. Depth over elite finishers. Quantity of shots over quality. Relentlessness over resourcefulness. Goaltending that’s always good enough, never great enough. It works so beautifully, so majestically, from October through April. But it hasn’t worked in May, and they haven’t even made it to June.

Canes dont get involved in long term contacts to aging vets and get burned later

Major exodus on its way, they dont kick the can and get saddled with Gallagher and Price contracts

But unlike the Leafs, the Canes don't have the luxury of a delusional fan base who will put up with ever increasing levels of bullshittery. They will make actual, real changes in the furtherance of winning, while the Leafs will make cosmetic changes in the furtherance of profits.

That Bruins/Leafs series was Jacques Lemaire hockey where both teams were striving to win the games 2-1…. Not the most exciting thing to watch

He's the guy who berated me when I suggested the Habs should have taken a late round flier on Mackenzie Weegar before Florida took him in the 7th round that year. I had seen Weegar play a fair bit here in Halifax. Kerr said the odds of a guy like that were making it were next to nil, and I was silly to think there was a chance. I doubt he ever saw him play.

Some times its nice to be right. Even I didn't foresee the success he would have for a late round pick.
