Does that open up a potential for Monahan to be dangled? Turns 32 in Oct, 3yrs remaining at $5.5M always been an excellent two way C, and was highly respected in the locker room when he was here

Would obviously prefer a top-6 player in the cores age group but Monahan would serve as a transition piece for Hage over next couple of seasons.

Granted a long history of being injury prone though…

Yeah, it would be a betrayal to those players to go through the entire season with a bunch of cap space. It's one thing to get it wrong, it's a whole different story to not even make a move. These guys took haircuts so that they could do everything possible to win, not so that the team could spend less.

I fully expect a move that will use up a good portion of that cap space, hopefully prior to the season starting.

I think there will be opportunities after the start of the season when some teams are tumbling out of the gate and suddenly become sellers.
