All-time Habs team

Ok, why stop there? All time Habs full line up. I'm going to go with a roster building approach, not just best at each position. I'm going to skip the 1910-20s guys because they're so hard to evaluate. I'm sure you can fit Lalonde in there easily otherwise.

Mahovlich-Beliveau-Richard
Shutt-Morentz-Lafleur
Moore-H.Richard-Geoffrion
Gainey-Lemaire-Cournoyer
Ferguson, Blake

Harvey-Robinson
Chelios-Savard
Lapointe-E.Bouchard
Markov

Roy
Dryden

Coach: Bowman, ass coach: Blake (yes I have him both as player and coach), Irvin
GM: Pollock

(I'm not 100% solid on this, just my first take)

There's lalonde getting disrespected again.

I just don't know how to rank those guys compared to the other ones. Swap him with Henri maybe? Or swap him with Blake and leave Blake as coach?
The guy won scoring titles against contemporary players. He was the best of his era by far. He deserves the respect for it.

I completely agree, and I certainly meant no disrespect, he was like the Jim Thorpe of hockey. But he played most of his career before the NHL even existed. Dominant small offensive center, 5'9, although time adjusted maybe not that small. Where do you put him? Swap with Richard? Lemaire? I put a threshold on my time period to avoid making those difficult decisions. Hockey without goalies being able to go down is just weird to me. Just like Joe Malone scoring 44 goals in 20 games (for the Habs).

Dryden is my #1

6 cups in an 8 year career.

.922 career save percentage when .900 was considered good
Totally understandable. My own personal issue with Dryden is that he sucked in pretty much every game I watched him, but that's a small sample size. (1972 series, 1975 NYE game, 1979 Bruins game). But Roy sucked in plenty of games too.

yeah....it's sad. I just looked and I couldn't find many entire NHL games on YT.

unlike the NFL

You laugh but I've been searching for years and there was barely any footage available. Looks like there is a few more highlights available now though.
ESPN+ has a lot of on demand stuff. Watched the 77 cup finals a few weeks back
