Around the League 2019-2023 Edition

I'm wondering if there is a domestic abuse / violence against women issue here...

apparently it is not because of racism or player abuse.
 
Likely has something to do with this:

apparently Montgomery gave an interview as a part of a podcast / local radio show... "White Elephant Afternoon Drive 2019 - Monty on Monty". Aired December 5/19

it's a weird mix of hockey related questions, and questions that are much more clearly suggestive/innuendo. among other things, he discusses his player's pubic hair (noting more of them go 'brazilian' these days or something along those lines). and I mean he sounds kinda drunk, but that's hard to tell over the phone. he also referred to the broadcast team as a bunch of "mutes" (short for mutants?)

one of the questions was straight up, 'how much ass does Tyler Seguin get?'
 
I wonder when this movement spills over to other sports? Pro and college football? Pro baseball? Male coaches in female sports?

The coach of a professional sports team holds a lot of power over their players - especially those looking to break-in.
 
Just listened to the interview and there's nothing there. Unless he was deemed to be drunk on air, which I don't think is the case. Funny that this still hasn't leaked, nobody has any idea why he was let go.
 
I have this feeling it might be an insubordination thing. Like maybe he has some beef with the president or owner and went on a profanity-laced tirade, and they were like get the fuck out of here.

Yeah, that interview isn't the thing that got him canned. Dreger was reporting last night that whatever the incident was, it "left them no choice" but to fire the man. That interview is cringe-inducing, but not to that point. I feel like it's better just to wait until the incident that actually caused Montgomery to be fired is identified to make any judgements on the matter.

Hard to figure how it's better for Montgomery now and going forward for the rest of his career for there to be rampant speculation about what he did to get fired rather than just coming out with it and getting it over with.
 
I don’t know about that. If it’s pretty bad, he’s dead in the media and not hirable as a result. If it stays under wraps and a good old boy wants to give him a second shot, they can.
