4 years left on his deal after this year, and even if he's not as fast as he used to be, he's still a better than average skater with an elite shot/shooters IQ combo. Anyone willing to bet that he can't average 30 goals a year from age 37-40?

Injuries, games lost to labour stoppages or pandemics, or a sudden desire to go home to Russia early look to be pretty much the only things that might stop him from breaking Gretzky's record at this point.

Otherwise, he'll keep scoring 30 in his sleep, and will probably have multiple more 40 or 50+ goal seasons too, because why not?

In fairness, those are better numbers than Clarkson had for us. Terrible, given his contract, but not Wendel Clarkson terrible.
