Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

The only way this gets going is if they get every team in Canada and isolate. Otherwise this will continue

Yeah I mean that really is the only way. Not fool proof but everybody comes here and stays put for 2 weeks this would have a chance. This current method is just dumb and a waste of time.

I would imagine that the teams themselves will be heavy handed as a motherfucker with team discipline through this. Some twat sneaking out to smash some random on twitter can get the entire team shutdown. I imagine that would be straying into breach of contract/contract termination territory.

If so the wives will be very happy.

There will also be some pent up agitated players by the second or third round.

Rules state that wives/family can join the bubble for the conference and Cup finals

Less concerned given that it's a playoff atmosphere, so teams should be essentially locked down anyways. Most players would only be away for a couple weeks or a month, so most likely should be without issue. Although obviously things would get complicated if anyone is due for their next kid this summer - if they left the bubble, presumably would take a lot of testing before they get back, so would you skip half a round or more?

What did you think they were going to fight about?

Cmon , Zeke

The players were shitting their pants to sign now , they know financial pain is in the works for the next 5 years

Owners did nothing to get some flexibility like other sports

They should of got something from a list of shorter term , opt outs, lower buyouts , etc.... to pick at

Its basically status quo til revenues reach 4.8B to help improve the cap

That flat cap is meaningless when many USA teams lose their shirts and with no gate revenue coming from CDN teams next year
its going to get ugly .

Players got their Olympics , owners got nothing

The owners got their Olympics, and kept the system that works.

Weird how after all these years people still think the owners were just engaged in a winner takes all bad faith negotiation, rather than a simple and rational goal of an effective cost to revenue linkage.

There was never anything that was going to bring a hardline from the owners this year.

the players were already soundly beaten in the last lockout. had there been no pandemic Weasel could have squeezed even harder though. there's still a bit of juice to be had with contract lengths, methinks, among other things.

next time.

I mean, it's nice that both sides decided not to squabble over the scraps, but my guess is it's more of a realization that at least with the current revenue linkage, it's in both sides interest to grow the game back, and it really doesn't make sense to be publicly fighting over billions of dollars when the world is still in a panic. Although I would expect the next CBA to be a tougher battle as both sides re-assess how they have done through the pandemic.

It has nothing to do with a hardline battle , simply get some flexibility like other leagues
