Wondering who we could even conceivably be looking at from what's left

Kind of difficult without knowing who we're sending out.

- Marner would be blockbustery with major pieces coming back, but that sounds like it's not on the table.
- Tavares would be cap dumpy with a middle 6 C and cap relief coming back most likely. They've been mum as fuck about this, so there's hope but we haven't been mum as fuck about anything that has actually happened so far in the Pizza Cunt era.
- Jarnkrok would probably be for a similar quality of player, but different "type"
- Kampf probably pretty dumpy as well

Don't see a whole lot of flexibility in trades out there for us tbh.
 
The fact that we've heard zero rumors about any of them means that there's likely no change on the horizon.

Maybe Pizza Dick is negotiating with remaining ufas to see if there's anyone worth signing to justify moving an existing player.

I just can't fathom more Kampf. The anti-cowbell.

i think all those guys are attractive to some teams.

now's the time where all the teams that couldn't get what they want in free agency start looking at other big contracts they could trade for.

Why would any team want to acquire Tavares last week when he’s owed a $7M signing bonus today? And when he only costs $910K in cash salary after today?

Same goes for Mitch ($7.25M bonus today, $775K salary remaining), Jarnkrok ($1.3M signing bonus today) and Kampf ($1.35M signing bonus paid today).

Nah, JT becomes way more interesting for most teams today with the bonus paid out. He's owed exactly 910K between now and the end of the season.

If I had to theory craft, Buffalo and Detroit both have space to add him and are close to home if that's his main thing.

Detroit has Andrew Copp and JT Compher as 2 guys that both play centre, and are both signed longer term at ~half of what JT makes. Compher is the better of the two. JT for Compher would be interesting.

Buffalo isn't as natural a partner imo. No centres worth doing the swap for.

The tougher bit imo is knowing who would extend him. Anyone decent enough, and willing to throw a 3-4 yr extension at him he probably waives for.
 
Is 1 year of tavares going to net us anything close to what he brings? Still 30 goal pace and 65+ pts last season. Who replaces that and gives us cap flexibility next offseason?
