I think you can make the case for Levshunov over Demidov, i would have gone Demi, but i understand the RHD.

Lindstrom and Sennecke are bad calls though. Imagine if Columbus took the Hawks offer for that pick. I guarantee you its Ivan

It's a bad comparison. Michkov is considered to be a very high level goal scorer. Bedard and Michkov are very similar. Marner not so much.

Fans know so much more eh? 20/20 hindsight and easier to get it wrong than right = "they were stupid".

What I was reading about the Leafs top heavy core cap was hilarious actually. But keep telling me a team needs to load up with talent up top eventually screwing the team.

Marner is a cancer, Michkov will be as well.
 
Come up with whatever reasons you want for Michkov not being good, but the idea that the GMs of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th worst teams n the league that year couldn't have made a mistake seems a pretty weak argument. Teams make mistakes at the top of the draft literally all the time.

I'm sure if teams knew they could get him to come over this year and not in 3 years (or possibly never), that would have changed some calculations. The question really for those front offices is whether they put in the effort to figure out if this was even a possibility, or just ignored him outright and went on to their next choices.
 
Michkov is just a unicorn type prospect. It’s not just like he’s pretty good. He’s generational good.

Him falling to 7 in an embarrassment for 5 teams. Especially considering it was purely because he is Russian. Don Cherry would be proud though.
