I think I'm comfortable with 2 elite pieces. The fact that they don't even have 1 is crazy and really rare. Even Buffalo has 1.
Yeah I didn't mean 1 literally. I just meant that even they have an elite player. But you're right, they have a few now.You don't consider Dahlin an elite piece?
if it was up to me i would have traded tatar, gallagher, petryI mean, if I'm a Habs fan I'd almost rather be horse shit to tank and at least have a chance to grab elite talent. But they're too good. They're an average-above average hockey team, much like the Leafs have been for the last few years. I do think the Leafs have improved enough to take the next step though. And personnel-wise they have the start talent that Montreal lacks. The hardest guys to get, and you can't really win without them.
habs were never getting hallAre the habs better with tofolli and anderson or would they have been better with hall and one one of the guys that gets ~$2M.
Are you implying that it would cost 25% more to convince a player to go to montreal over buffalo?habs were never getting hall
and even if they did it probably would have been around 10m
i amAre you implying that it would cost 25% more to convince a player to go to montreal over buffalo?
Also tells you that they rarely finish down near the bottom and when they have a top 5 pick it's usually in a weak draft.I think I'm comfortable with 2 elite pieces. The fact that they don't even have 1 is crazy and really rare. Even Buffalo has 1.
I love all the Sens are good now takes.

They are still very bad.
If you have 3 players named Brown thats not a real roster.
Yeah, the fact they did not send out any prospects pleases me. Sure the cap argument is there but our prospects are still 2-3 years out anyway aside from Evans and Romanov. Who else is knocking on the door? I can't think of anyone else close. They made one really good move. Adding Toffoli on that contract was a very good move.
The cost of acquisition and the cost of contract on the rest of their moves are varying degrees of "bad to decent."
That said, the overall quality of the team has risen dramatically, regardless of cost.
Domi, a 3rd and a couple of 5th out.... Toffoli, Anderson, Edmundson, Allen and Romanov in.
That should be a dramatic improvement. In the long run will the contracts be a problem? It seems likely that one or more of them could be an issue... but right now, we are significantly improved.
And of course it's never a given, but I think it's reasonable to expect some improved contribution from Suzuki and Kotkaniemi.
You will.Agree with all but don't see the dramatic improvement.
They couldn't get much better, they were awesome last year. 4-0 against the Habs.Agreed. They should be a lot better.
Yeah that works but the numbers...Saves Melnyk on jersey costs, can buy Brown jerseys in bulk now.
What does this even mean? The standings are how you know if there is improvement.Dramatic improvement? The Habs? Meh. Maybe in the standings, but the team itself didn't get much better. I do think they were good last year though. They suffered from bad luck mostly.
It means the habs were good last year and as a result of a lack of talent and some bad luck they didn't win many games. Next year maybe their luck turns. They still don't have talent though. I've always felt they were average to above average. This off-season hasn't changed that one way or another. What does this even mean? The standings are how you know if there is improvement.
The Habs have gone from bottom ten to upper mid ten and will make the playoffs barring numerous injuries. Even with injuries I think they battle for a spot.
