Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Hanifin is awesome. 7 games to start this season doesn't change that.

I'd happily take that deal right now and send them a decent package of prospects to get him.

Having said that, OEL is sort of providing exactly what Hanifin would thus far, at half price.

Still would move players and prospects to get Hanifin in.

How has that vegas blueline fit anyways.

went well immediately after the trade last year, but pretty terrible come playoffs, and off to a bad start this year now that they lost some more key players.

Has anyone here actually ever been to Reno? I have been there 3 or 4 times and every time I went it was worse than the time before. It's a shithole with a population roughly the size of Regina.
I went once. It's embarrassing if NHL went there. would be so small town. I have no idea why this guy is even trying it there.
It's like when Bettman bragged about Omaha Nebraska asking if they can have a team. Just STFU and don't admit that.

Some thirty years ago....following video is from a few years earlier than that:

I saw the Smother Brothers at Harrah's for like $20 to $30 bucks with a friend. When the gambling economy went bust, alot/most of those casinos went under. Downtown Reno turned into the Downtown Eastside (Vancouver). But I haven't been there in decades so I don't know if it's gotten better.

Yep. It's been a while since I was last there also but it was pretty "alive" the first time I went in, I think, 1997. My subsequent trips were notable because I would remark that it had gone downhill since the last time and the times after were worse.

They tore down about a block of the old main drag and replaced it with...nothing but a concrete "park". The Comstock Hotel became a rental apartment block, the Riverboat closed down, the Reno Hilton closed down. The downtown neighborhood where all these casinos had been got sketchy. By the last time i passed through there, there were only 4 half decent properties left; the Silver Legacy and the Eldorado downtown, and the Peppermill and Atlantis on the outskirts. And none of them compare to what you see in Vegas nowadays.

its a big and expensive long-term bet on a very small sample size that would justify the contract... don't think this one ages particularly well

2.04 P/60 (1.9 P1/60) as a 22 yr old.

They only got him this cheap because he's been on a good team that doesn't give him 1st unit PP ice. 26 EV goals last year, 51 EV points. When he replaces Trochek on that PP unit, he's probably 75-80+ points a year.

imo, good deal for NYR.
