imo it's just that with the rising cap a bunch of players are finally taking a stand for their actual value instead of accepting the bizarrely depressed elite salaries of the last decade.

That’s the vibe I get too. Fatal mistake by Nill to not just pay him whatever he was asking for last summer.

The one smart thing Bundy did that’ll pay dividends for us for years to come was to just suck it up and pay Willy what it took to get him to sign for eight years, even if it seemed like an overpayment at the time.

Though being Bundy, he still fucked it up a little by deciding to “wait and see” and then signing him in the middle of a massive hot streak for probably $1-1.5M more per season than he would’ve had to pay him in the summer. Still glad he got it done in the end though.
