Around The League - 2023-24 Regular Season

Chuckie and Matthews seem to be very good friends....not that it means nothing, but it's always good to have the franchise player vouch for you.....Crosby did that with a few Pens players through the years....

Did the NJD actually get anything other than a late 1st in a poor draft cuvée?
Nooooope. Nothing. They gave up a late first in what is going to be the biggest shit show of a draft in NHL history.

The Islanders are not too dissimilar to us. An aging roster with lot of good pieces, but not much high-end talent, hoping to win now.

At least they have a shot albeit no great to win now

Henrik Borgstrom and Riley Stillman to me are not worth eating that Brett Connolly contract, but hey, the Blackhawks have money to blow.

Former Habs Mike Reilly got 8 assists in his last 8 games with Ottawa.
(Points in 7 of his last 8 GP)

He’s ranked 37th defenseman with the most points in the league, ahead of Weber, Giordano, Dahlin, and Spurgeon to name a few.

With not more than 2 pts difference with Werenski, Krug, Heiskanen, Jones, Provorov and Burns.

Didn’t think he had this kind of offense into him, where is that coming from ?

Mike Reilly was an highly thought prospect at one time and had flashes of potential can consistency was an issue, like for many young player. He's been allowed to play and develop in a top 4 role in Ottawa and it has done him wonders.

So in hindsight the Habs should have kept Reilly and pushed Mete back somewhere. Anyway, the Sens are last in Goals against, so Reilly probably isn't an ideal top 4.

Reilly is one of those not so good players who have “points” success on bad teams type players like former Hab Grabovski w Leafs & Isles - simply due to TOI since team doesn’t have any other options

Reilly’s game still sucks

No, we shouldn't have kept him. Mike Reilly is still not very good.

Mike Reilly get points because he's a puck mover and has offensive talent, but he's playing on a team with two actual good NHL caliber d-men (Chabot & Zub). On teams that have actual depth, he gets phased out.

Nobody should be worried that we let go of Mike Reilly because he's putting up numbers on one of the worst teams in the NHL.

Someone has to put up points on lousy teams

Its like Connor Brown , nice player but he wont get top 6 minutes in a good team

Mike Hoffman was made a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game by the Blues last night.

Blues won 9-1 against Minnesota.
