The Caps were also soft and underachieving when he took over and turn them around. It's a good comparable.

Correct, but their issue is more that they are not scoring right now. 27th in the league in goals per game, compared to the 12th best defense.
Underachieving I agree
Ovy , Backstrom and others weren`t floaters or choked like the Leafs big guns
They won some playoff rounds , division titles etc..
They had to get through Sid most years not inferior Hab or Columbus teams
This team is flawed with an atrocious D and its all on Dubas trying to build a team with nerdy stats

Caps had a bunch of floaters playing shiny hockey in the playoffs, which is why they were underachieving. Ovy has always been clutch though, but he was also going through a rough patch of his career at that time.

If Trotz is brought on, it’ll be a Shanahan hire which means Dumbass is gonzo and Trotz will be given more say in player movement / management, which he’s hinted as reason for not taking another coaching gig last summer (re: Philly)

Little anecdote for you, Hughes said Dubas had the hardest job in the league and it isn't even close. He responded to this when asked how he's dealing with the hardest job in the league.
