Price did it for years here. Elite goaltending will always, always cover up a team's flaws.

It’s not just getting the best players in the draft. You can do that and still be the Maple Leafs.

Edmonton has shown in the last 20 or so years that they'll (mostly) hit on their lottery picks, but fail everywhere else. And that's the difference between them & PIttsburgh. Yeah, Pittsburgh got Fleury, Malkin & Crosby in the lottery, but got Letang in the 3rd, Guentzel in the 3rd, Rust in the 3rd, along with a bunch of excellent signatures and trades.

We have three confirmed hits for our core (Suzuki, Cole & Guhle) with a 4th on the way (Slaf). We need to get a few hits every other draft to surround them along with a high pick this season.

Alex Turcotte's one of the most disappointing propects I ever watched. I was as convinced as I ever was that he'd be a great two-way center with some bite to his game. Unfortunately, it just never went anywhere after his draft year.

Shanahan only started in 2015 --- but I agree, even that is getting long in the tooth... Matthews is just 25, so still time tho
