Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Still, they’re the new kids playing the defending champs and are not intimidated one bit. It was the biggest lopsided predictions I’ve seen, not a single analyst out there dared to pick them for an upset potential. They’re going to cause trouble if they beat the Avs. They’re relentless.
:)

I didn't think it was a difficult prediction to make, either. We'll see if Colorado comes back or not, they just might, but my reasoning behind why I thought Seattle would win was, despite not having the super high-end talent that Colorado has in MacKinnon, Rantanen and Makar, they have a clear edge in goaltending and they have a clear edge in depth. If Colorado loses one player (They did in Makar & Nischuskin), they're in deep trouble and if their goaltender has a bad game, they won't be able to overcome it.

I'm also not a fan of teams that are top-heavy in general. Colorado really has 5 players. MacKinnon, Makar, Nischuskin, Rantanen & Toews, and while Manson & Lehkonen are good players, they're complimentary. Losing Kadri, Landeskog, & Burakowsvy, not to mention losing last year's goaltender. Not that their goaltender won them games, he actively tried to sabotage them from time to time, but he's better than the tandem they have now.

Anyway, upsets are good. I'm all for more upsets and chaos.

Agree with the rest but this part. Grubauer sucks, his numbers has been terrible and they barely scratch the surface of how bad he's been, but somehow he's been good in this series.

Maybe, yes, but I think it has more to do with having absolutely no faith whatsoever in Georgiev than anything else. At one point Grubauer was good enough to warrant being a starting goalie for a few years. What's happened in Seattle, I don't know, but at least he's shown me that he can be good.

I just think Georgiev's a sieve and I have less than zero confidence in him.

I mean, going into the series the two goalies are

A : .918%, 2.53 GAA, 26.3 GSAA
B : .895%, 2.85 GAA, -9 GSAA

It's not even close, yet you picked B as having a clear advantage. Grubauer has been good beyond all expectations.
