Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Context was: There's only one Quebécois that was taken by the Canadiens, are you disappointed that it was only one?

The guy answering says it is, then goes on to show (not sure why he thought it'd be a good point) that the other Canadian teams drafted 1-2 local kids, and that even if it was a weak draft for the Q, they should have still taken more than one local player because if we looked at the previous years, the Habs had a lot of success drafting in the Q while point to the 2021 draft. What he fails to mention is that in the 2021 draft, the Q was the only league in Canada that played a full season.

I don't even know who that guy is but he's a moron. Even he's rambling about why Reinbacher was a risky pick solely because he's Austrian was moronic.

By his own logic, picking that guy... what was his name, it escapes me... from known hockey market Slovenia, Dante? Dante Caviar?

Boy, that would have been risky.

We apparently picked Reinbacher over Michkov because we want to build a certain culture, but in the same breath, we have no problem with having Mike Fucking Hoffman on the team.

Dunno, maybe it's just me, but Mike Hoffman doesn't scream ka rek tur and culture.

He will be gone this summer via trade per Arpon Basu, HuGo didn’t want multiple years of cap hit due to buyout

They inherited Hoffman, they’re just riding out his contract.

Maybe it's just me, but the Mike Hoffman types, these Me, Myself & I type of players who don't know how to play hockey and don't give a single shit about winning? Not interested.

I'll do everything in my power to stay the hell away from them. If we're not buying him out, fine. Send him to the AHL and see if a franchise like Chicago would take him. Or keep his salary on the roster, but send him away to play in the KHL.

I don't think there's going to be anything we'll get in return from him, salary retention or not.

Nevermind. Disgusting.

And needs JackBurton's hair guy
Disgusting but it is what it is. Quebec is filled with people just like him, who ping-pong between having a linguistic and cultural chauvinism to having a linguistic and cultural inferiority complex. This is why having competent anglophone management is so important for the Habs. Unlike too many previous francophone GM's, Hughes and Gorton do not pander to that segment of the fanbase and media. The days of French beat writers bragging about which one of them had the power to get a Habs coach or GM fired are over. This management team's motto is "Fuck the fans."

I loathed this signing from the get go. I think we’re stuck with him, and I get that HuGo doesn’t want to tie up future cap space with a buy out.

So it sucks.
