Pasta 11.25 x 8How? He has no leverage and he resigned his start player. It's a win.
There’s a premium for putting up with a CDN market.Treliving got taken to the cleaners
Pasta 11.25 x 8
Nate 12.6 x 8
Pretty boy 13.25 x 4
You take term to get a lower AAV , not 4 to get 2 mil more than Pasta and 95% in bonus money
He got 2 mega contracts and set the bar that no other team ever went to
Thats fine dont go to 13.25 for 4 years , doesnt give a fuck about winning or the team
As a former boss used to tell me, “my #1 priority in life is to make sure my grandchildren’s grandchildren are so financially set, they don’t have to work a day in their lives”Thats fine dont go to 13.25 for 4 years , doesnt give a fuck about winning or the team

done dealEven with the additional 1-2 million, I think it's better for the Laffs long-term as Matthews will be roughly 30 when the deal expires instead being stuck with him until his mid-30's. Obviously better than losing him as a UFA in one year or getting a package of prospects when their window is right now. Hopefully he and his buddies Marner and Tavares continue to choke to make it all moot.
I dunno. The older I get the sillier it seems wishing or expecting ill on others, including team.
Their floundering in no way lessens the sting of our floundering.
Caveat: evil must be vanquishedRight?? Although I admit that I do smile when the Bruins falters.
B’s are going to miss playoffs and win the lottery to select one of Celebrini or Eiserman aren’t they?Leafs got stronger while Bruins and Bolts got older/lost key players
Given our last 30 years or so - save for the Cup run two years ago and 2014 - I'm beyond caring about the plight of the Leafs or Bruins anymore. I just want us to have another sustained run as an actual contender in the next several years.Leafs got stronger while Bruins and Bolts got older/lost key players
Agreed. The cap is what prevents dumb but wealthy teams like the Leafs from being able to throw money at their stupid mistakes. That alone makes the cap worth keeping. Any system which denies or makes a Leafs championship virtually impossible is a de facto good thing.Exactly , Edmonton would be decimated after 1 cup run
They need a 200 mil cap to pay their players
The NHL by far is the hardest league to manage your dollars , so you have to be smart navigating the cap
The cap is exactly what this league needs , it simply doesnt bring in the bucks like other leagues
He resigned a player who doesn't move the needle in games that matter. That makes Matthews an expensive toy, not a player to build around and at his price tag he makes it impossible for Treleving to build anything. If the goal is to win Cups then Matthews should have been traded for a huge haul. How? He has no leverage and he resigned his star player. It's a win.
