Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

To an extent, perhaps, but the reality is that if those Air Jordan's were made by unionized labor here instead of by Indonesian slave labor Nike would have to sell them for a less exorbitant price and take a little less profit. But they'd still be rich and the rest of us, working thise well paying union jobs, would be better off too and less reliant on 2nd and 3rd jobs plus credit at 19% interest just to make ends meet.

Selling prices might be the same but profits would tumble paying a decent wage for the workers

Our raw materials and proximity to cheap labour is the not same as Foxconn that employs 400k workers and can turn a gazillion devices overnight

China can do shit overnight unlike us that is littered with bureaucracy and corruption

Stan Bowman is the new Oilers GM.
Lots of mixed reactions among the fan base, even in just the little bit I heard on the radio during my 10 minute commute to the office this morning. Of course, most fans are like Count; they wouldn't care if the guy was a pedo because as soon as he puts on the team jersey nothing else matters to them. But there are many fans wondering if the whole idea of second chances is something which is automatically "deserved". Aren't there certain things from which no second chance is warranted? If so, then turning a blind eye to sexual abuse when you were in a position to put a stop to it seems to fit that description.

All I can say is that Bowman had better friggin' win, win a lot, and win soon, because if he doesn't these questions aren't going to vanish.

Only in your imagination … projections are lifespan is expected to top 85 by 2035

And the age at which a person dies is really just a number. There's also a quality of life issue. Sure, you may live to 82 when your grandfather dropped dead at 52, but does that matter if you spend the last 30 years of your life with chronic illnesses which negatively impact the quality of your life?

You blame Butthead and his cronies for letting the shit go on for years

Start handing out lifetime bans and watch how fast people in charge on individual teams put a stop to this shit. As it happened, people like Bowman did nothing because they felt it was the safest path to tread if they wanted to keep their jobs. Make it so that your silence ends in getting banned and watch how quickly that threat changes their behavior. When the actual penalty for doing nothing is worse than the perceived penalty for doing something, this shit will stop occurring.

But giving people who morally and ethically failed to do the obvious right thing endless second chances is not a recipe that will bring about change.

I've had several ancestors that lived triple digits and active. Genetics and how you take care of yourself are highly involved.

Is it Marxist to want a society where the middle class doesn't disappear into the swelling ranks of the poor? Is it Marxist to ask corporate oligarchs to be just a little less greedy?
you constantly talk of punishing taxation including your fellow working class plumbers etc for gasp, driving a pick up truck, nothing to do with "little less greedy"

Since when have you cared what players on your teams did off the field? You would be willing to throw out a line of Hitler, Chairman Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot and Ted Bundy if they beat the Leafs. You specifically didn't want Tom Brady punished in 2015 so he could beat the Cowboys.

250 for a pair of Jordan's is not exhorbinant. BTW didn't I see you in Balenciagas?

Fortunately, we don't need to dress a who's who of murderous despots to beat the Leafs. And I supported Brady being punished....right after the Cowboys game.
