Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

It's tough to do for prospects but I respect the effort. Gotta do a cut off somewhere
25 games is far too low. Setbacks from injuries, expected sophomore slumps, coaching changes etc.

A guy is a rookie for his first season, not his first 25 games. A rookie is still a prospect.

It's a shitty model.

Whenever you do a model, you need to tweak it based on whether the results make sense. Does the cut off makes sense? Is the weighting of prospect quality makes sense? Etc.

Sure. Some do it by age, some by games played, etc. Nothing is going to be perfect.
And that is ignoring how to actual rank the players which is also not going to be perfect but I think is much more impt

It might be but I'm fine with the cut off of 25 games. It's just context. Is it young players or pure prospects, etc.
I like 25gp to show me the non nhl guys. If you want to do rookies and prospects that is fine as well. This guy was showing the nhl team vs the players yet to come. If you included rookies then you are double counting them. 25 games seems reasonable as it removes those guys that got then cups of tea and the end of years or start of years.

It is just context not a model issue.

Not impressed. His grammar sucks too.

He is a fanboy of his own picks and teams that took the players he likes got ranked higher. His analysis of the Habs didn't make sense to me either. I don't care where he ranks the Habs, it isn't about that, it's about his personal bias without empirical backup.
I think he's just using someone else model. I saw him say that he used NHLe (NHL equivalency), but I haven't seen how it works for prospects.

You had me at "His grammar sucks too".

If he's sloppy about his grammar (especially when you can have your software check for it in real time and offer corrections) then I wonder about what else he's letting slip by. Lazy grammar equates to lazy analysis.
