Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Bruins will do something desperate - Neely / Sweeney’s last stance

They still have their 1st rd picks, but that’s about it. Not much cap flex and one of the weakest prospect pools in the league. Apparently there’s one decent prospect - they might have to bundle with the 1st rd pick and find a way to make the cap work.

Some of those guys look good but admittedly I have no real comparison for the euro players.

Last draft was interesting. They went super Russian. 6 Russians, 3 swedes, 1 Q player.

It is possible they are taking advantage of the Russian thing.
Canes have been doing the boom or bust draft strategy for a few years now. They go for upside and to hell with everything else.

Hutson is carrying the narrative of his deployment being especially easy. But among the 219 defensemen who have played at least 200 minutes of 5-on-5 hockey in the NHL this season, Hutson’s 53.95 offensive zone start percentage ranks him just 60th. Players like Morgan Rielly, Roman Josi, and Cale Makar — all ultra offensively gifted blueliners — are getting much more favorable deployment than the Habs rookie. And when you compare that to Michkov’s 72.73 percent of offensive zone starts, it is extremely easy to see who is truly getting the tougher deployment.

Who cares they manage their roster properly

Do you want to be Nashville who spent like drunks and now have a shit team on brutal deals on the wrong side of 30 with no move clauses ?
that is a strawman argument, in the end, their way is not leading them to a Cup, they are a pussy team that loses in the 2nd round but woohoo, they have a good cap,,,
