Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Oh for Christ sakes this has absolutely nothing to do with COVID. Ridiculous. Hockey has always been 2nd tier sport in the US, plain and simple.

When 7of 32 teams basically have no revenue for a over a year to a year and a half, AND salaries are tied to revenue, it definitely had something to do with it. Ask yourself, how much money did we NOT make in the 2021 cup run when we couldn't fill the rink?

I appreciated the 2020 playoffs in Toronto and Edmonton but the NHL lost money doing it for my enjoyment.

I'm not about to cry about Geoff missing out on a few extra bucks. The smaller amount of money he made with near empty arenas is still more than the $0.00 he'd have made if the season had occurred without Covid because without it, the Habs would have been eliminated from playoff contention by Xmas.

League lost over a billion

That has nothing to do with the NHL’s place in the sports pecking order or their inability to market their stars. Not before. Not during. Not after. Zilch. Ridiculous.

I love finally having to scoreboard watch this late in the season (been far too long) but now I have to want teams I dislike to win IF it helps us as I only care about what happens to us, nothing else matters.
