Few teams aside from the Habs and Leafs can afford to take a "fuck the fans" approach to how they do business. Besides which, Edmonton is in their window now. They have no choice but to try and go for broke. The future is now when you have 97 and 29 in their primes.. But the Habs are 3 players away from being 3 players away. Trying to make the playoffs with this roster, in addition to being unnecessary for financial reasons, would only hurt our draft ranking. If the fans refuse to be patient then the front office has no choice but to say "Fuck 'em."

They need to share their wealth, not hoard it. Why should we have to pay taxes to assist people with full time jobs who still have to use food banks because their corporate overlords won't pay them a living wage? Why are we subsidizing corporations in this way? Because that's exactly what it is, corporate welfare.
Walmart doesn't pay their workers peanuts because they're using the money to "take the risk". There is no risk. Walmart is a license to print money. They can afford to pay their workers, they just don't want to. They want us to make up the difference.

If the Habs had 97 and 29 I'd be advocating for us to push all our chips to the center of the table. But that's not the Habs. You don't go for broke trying to make the playoffs when your best player is Nick Suzuki.
