Around The League - 2025 Playoffs

They could still be in on him... As long as they give up on Trouba.

Detroit's got a lot of cap space and a lot of roster spots available. Not including Kane, they only have 12 players signed to one-way NHL contracts for next season. They have $32M +/- to spend on 6 forwards & 2 d-men.

Lucas Raymond & Moritz Seider are RFAs and will get paid handsomely, Veleno a bridge deal. Assuming all three combine for $16M +/- and Kane takes a $5M deal, that's $21M on 4 players. They can splurge heavily on Stamkos and get a prospect or two to fill out the roster. But that takes them out of the running for Trouba.

Not that I understood why they'd want Trouba in the first place.

You don't seriously think Tanev would take a short deal do you? It'll be 5x5 or 6x5 or a derivative thereof.
