Around The League - 2024 Offseason

Hockey is so fucken hard to build a competitive team with a hard cap , trade clauses , etc..

As soon as your successful and maybe win a cup , your doomed shortly after when existing bad contracts , and new mega contracts fuck you
Da fuq you talking about? You and Wehave keep telling us what needs to be done like you know. Are you now stating you don't?

The way to remedy that is to not draft a player until he turns 20 instead of when he turns 18. Your odds of knowing what you're drafting increases the older they get.
never happen, 18 year olds have the right to work as they are adults, would lose in court in the US as there is no valid reason like the NFL has to keep you out of the league

What reason does the NFL have that isn't arbitrary? The only reason the NHL lowered the age was because the WHA started poaching underage players.

So arbitrary then. Nothing whatsoever to do with labor laws.
nah not arbitrary at all, it is well known aka "the science" that three years at university in Div 1 football will increase your strength, and body growth to handle the rigours of the NFL.

The very small Bedard being a star last year at 18 shows that you can be small and weak and still compete in the NHL. No way a frosh DL from Georgia could compete in the NFL

It also shows that the Bedards are outliers and that most players who are hot shots at 18 end up as mediocrities or outright busts by the age of 23. But if, at 21, a player is still looking elite, there's a good chance that what you're seeing is real and not fool's gold.

Never underestimate the ability of the NHL to fuck things up.

Every single one of these proposed names is objectively awful. I loathe collective nouns as team names. I see a team with a collective noun rather than something with a pluralizing letter "s" on the end and I immediately think indoor soccer or pro lacrosse, bush league shit. And Utah HC? Dafuq is this? Soccer? No team in any legitimate sport played by men should be imitating what they do in the phony sport of fa***ty-assed, euro-weenie soccer.

The only name on that list that doesn't induce projectile vomiting is "Outlaws". The only problems I have with that name are the fact that Outlaws is one of the most over-used names in team sports and it pretty tired and played out. Also, there aren't any outlaws in Utah. They're all straight-laced, church-goers who probably have laws preventing the sale of beer at the arena. But at least you can design a logo, a mascot, etc. when you have "Outlaws" to work with, I suppose.

Fuck, people will just call them the Utah Mormons or the Utah Magic Underpants anyway, no matter what their official name is. Call em the Utah Hockey McHockey Faces.

All those names (except for the HC one) sound like 90's IHL team names. In particular, the Yeti reminds me too much of those bougie mugs the girls in the yoga pants bring to the gym.
