Core 4 No More: The Motherfucking Off-Season Thread

This idea everyone needs to battle in the corners is killing us. I loved when our 3rd line had speed and skill and guys were getting 20 goals/40+ points. Teams that win cups have 1 dimensional players who's goal is to score goals.
Keefe is now coaching a very small, soft, skilled team in New Jersey and I'll bet there won't be distractions to add non-stop gud pros.
We added Edmondson AND Boosh (Again!) when we already had Benoit. That D had no skill. It was painful.
We are not even a small team and no one is aware and juts gets wet over any big player.

Not sure if it was mentioned elsewhere but fyi Simmons mentioned that they don't expect Hakanpaa to start the season with the Leafs. And that they hope he may be able to go by late season. So they essentially signed a dead guy with a knee that isn't functional who may or may not be healthy by the end of the season and can maybe utilize him instead of trading for a version of him at the deadline. So I guess LTIR is coming.

Kind of annoying that we'll be into LTIR for his sake right from the start of the season, and not accruing cap space. Then again, if the result is a lessened chance that Treliving goes on a drunken deadline binge for Edmundsons and Booshes, then it's worth it.

I mean he's not a center and he's not making the team. But he was a fine enough 4th line on a cup winner. I'd gladly dump Kampf's 4th line contract for that savings. He's not significantly worse than Kampf.

He played half a season with dismal counting stats, but played every playoff game and did his job well.

funny iirc Lorentz and Gregor were often linemates the year before on SJ. Lorentz did seem to mostly play C that year, especially after Bonino was moved at the deadline. he was 4th on the team in faceoffs taken that year.

then we added Gregor (PTO).

while the Panthers added Lorentz (Duclair traded for Lorentz + 5th to get under the cap, Duclair later flipped to TB for 21yr old 3rd round pick J.Thompson plus another 3rd rounder).

22-23 on SJ

Gregor: 5v5 12:09toi (+4.1dzs%), 46.3xgf% (-2.3rel), 1.30p1/60, 1.39p/60 (8.1oish%) --- 4v5 0:11toi, +3.3xgarel
Lorentz: 5v5 10:02toi (+1.2dzs%), 48.8xgf% (+0.7rel), 0.75p1/60, 1.20p/60 (6.1oish%) --- 4v5 1:21toi, -1.8xgarel

23-24 on TOR/FLA

Gregor: 5v5 10:04toi (+7.0dzs%), 41.2xgf% (-9.8rel), 0.85p1/60, 0.85p/60 (5.7oish%) --- 4v5 1:08toi, -1.2xgarel
Lorentz: 5v5 8:15toi (-4.4dzs%), 50.5xgf% (-0.4rel), 0.38p1/60, 0.57p/60 (2.9oish%) --- 4v5 0:28toi, -1.9xgarel

Playoffs

Gregor: 5v5 8:04toi (-31.0dzs%), 33.0xgf% (-7.4rel), 0.00p1/60, 0.00p/60 (0.0oish%) --- 4v5 0:00toi
Lorentz: 5v5 6:38 (+8.8dzs%), 37.9xgf% (-9.4rel), 1.58p1/60, 1.58p/60 (8.3oish%) --- 4v5 0:21toi, +1.5xgarel

none of that probably means anything other than florida's coach didn't idiotically try to use their scrub in extremely tough matchup usage.
