I quit smoking, cold turkey over 9 years ago now. However, my mom, stepdad, brother and a few cousins have been doing e-cigs for quite awhile now. They really seem to like them. The one thing they all seem to say is that you have to fully commit to them. If you dabble with real smokes you'll inevitably return to just smoking full time.

Yeah, she had a lung removed and after some chemo and about a year of recovery she's been doing great for the past 4-5 years. Super lucky.
I wish she wouldn't even do the e-cig but definitely a lot better than real cigs.
