GDT #12: 2024/11/02 HNIC - Shitty Injured Blues Again

separate issue, Robbie is not what teams generally look for in a 4th line player, and hasn't really earned a top 9 spot to this point.

I want to see him in there too, but he does need to play in the top 9 to be effective.

Some organizations commit to developing young players, and some don't. I keep looking at all of these young breakout guys and I keep seeing 1-2 years where they played the entire season in lesser roles before they break out. We give our kids a week or two and then punish them by playing them behind scrubs.

If they are even given the week or two... Dakota Joshua, Mason Marchment, Carter Verhague etc.

Easily our biggest weakness as an organization and probably the biggest reason this era has been a flop so far. No patience at all. Everything is always done to add weirdo experience to try to accelerate us towards wherever the fuck it is our management thinks they're trying to go.

So here we are 13 games into the year on an 88 point pace with a blueline in it's mid 30's signed until roughly Joe Biden's age, our draft and develop record in this era is starting to look fucking grim now and we're running out of Auston Matthews seasons in which his age starts with a 2.

This is Ryan Reaves 9th game of the season and he doesn't have a fight yet.

He's a 38 yr old goon who doesn't goon anymore, what exactly is his function?
Matt Rempe is 15 years younger and Rangers don't have interest in playing him nearly as much

This is Leafs biggest issue. And Lilly is gone, Robertson will be soon.

The PP is just killing them at this point. That should be their biggest weapon, and one of the best in the league. It never is in the playoffs, but I mean it’s the regular season.

It’s all mental too.

It’s not just that it doesn’t convert. It looks terrible, top to bottom, both units. All the time. Every opponent we play seems to have amazing movement, not just five dumbasses standing in the same spot passing to each other. That Marner to Matthews, Matthews to Marner, three times back and forth with nobody wanting to shoot was downright embarrassing.

Matty is looking way too passive this season, playing like a guy who doesn’t expect to score too many, refusing to shoot from all areas like he usually does. Playing like shit by his standards. Errant passes, lazy unfocused plays. Just terrible.

If I was still a drinking man I possibly would have needed a new TV after watching that.

Shoot the fucking puck for fuck's sake!
