GDT #15 Feb 13 7pm - Finish Them

We’ll win 3 straight against the Sens and then we play the Habs next Saturday. So 4 straight easily.
 
Only the 2nd game all year we've been held under 3 goals.

But the 8th time - and 4th in a row - that we held opponents under 3 goals.

Also we've only given up more than 3 goals in regulation twice this year - the first 2 games of the year.
 
Leafs played like crap after the 1st but really not impressed at all with Montreal. Wouldn't be surprised if they are the 3rd-4th best team in this division when things are all said and done.
 
I actually predicted to my Habs frenemy today that they'll finish 4th behind Toronto, Winnipeg and Edmonton.

And that's only if Calgary keeps up their underwhelming play. Imagine missing the playoffs in this division...

They’ll finish top two IMO. Unless they dominate the head to head it’ll likely be second. Julien is under fire again but he’s a good coach and will get them straightened away.

Being a legit contender is a repeatable feat, multiple years in a row. Washington, Boston, Tampa, San Jose, etc, etc. Teams that finish at the top of their conference and look ready to make a deep run every year. Not a bubble team that sneaks through a round or two once every few years.

And yet as good as the Leafs are, they never seem to make it to the SCF. The Leafs are a very good REGULAR SEASON team, but when it counts they always faulter. How many years have I read how great they are on this board? How many cups has that translated in to🤔
 
Cups? What about just series wins?
Contender is a term for security blanket. Any team can be a contender in any given year. Dynasty on the other hand is difficult. They have the talent to be one, they just haven’t put it together yet. Time will tell.

how many years? 3-4 now.

How many young cores like this have done fuck all in the playoffs in recent years?

and fwiw, I wasn't referring to the Leafs as a perennial contender in my post. I was just stating what a real contender is. We haven't been remotely consistent enough to be named in that group yet. Starting to look a lot like one this year though.

I have been reading suggestive posts on this board for over 15 years. Seems to me the Leafs should be on a 15 year cup winning run. Same song every season. Great season/quick playoff exit, and carrots to be dangled in the off season. It seems to me you guys haven't noticed or refuse to see it.

We were dead last and won a lottery four years ago. Like on purpose.... remember? And failed to make the playoffs almost every year before that since the lockout. So no, “us guys” haven’t been suggesting anything about contending for “15 years”.
