GDT #16: 2024/11/9 HNIC - another shit team's stanley cup

Their problem is that even if they move the rest of those veterans, their young core doesn't look good enough to get them very far. Is there a contender level 1st line/top pairing player on the team? Suzuki looks like a good 2C, Caufield like a Debrincat type PP monster. Slaf ma7ybe? his P/60 production is pretty pedestrian but he's young enough to grow into a legit producer. Demidov is putting up a nice D+1 season in Russia so maybe he's that guy.

They might just be better off detonating this summer. By the time they're good enough to compete Suzuki is going to be 30. It's a very Dylan Larkinish situation there.
High 1st this year, Hutson looks like a potential top pair puck mover. Ditch those guys and you get a ton of cap space to replace guys not really contributing much.

Bingo , the Habs are missing the core 3-5 dudes you build around

They have the condiments to the BBQ , missing the high end steaks

Demidov and Hage (the guy Wes Clark wanted) and another top 5 pick are coming

Fowler will be a goalie stud.

Yup but you need a base to work with and not expect these guys to step in and contribute right away or make a difference

Would just let them overstay their prospects in the A or junior, while putting out good pro vets for a few years that you can trade at the deadline for more picks (as they will be overvalued with additional ice time to get more stats). Then in 3-4 years bring them all into the team with a few vet signings to help bring them into the league. This will maximize their 1sts and save the kids from the crazy storm that is playing for a bad team with impatient media (and prob fans).
