GDT #42: 2024/1/7 - Finish the Job

This is the final game of a 5gm stretch against struggling middling-to-poor teams (2 x NYI, 1 x BOS, 2 x PHI), which kind of marked the end of our most condensed stretch of the year with all the back to backs, and all coming before a tough 4 game stretch vs CAR VAN NJD DAL. And in general this last stretch of 13gms before the international break is against tougher opponents (9 against playoffs teams, 4 against OTT MTL SEA CBJ), though with a much more spaced out schedule. We've won the first 4gms against these very beatable teams so hopefuully we can make it 5/5 tonight before we play the better teams.

I was really hoping that we were finally going to be mostly healthy going into this stretch of the schedule but of course now arguably our most important Dman is out for a while, and I'm not sure we'll see him before the international break. Hopefully symptoms are gone quickly but the team's reaction has been worrying.

Looking forward to seeing McMann on the 2nd line here - that line has no excuse not to dominate.

I just don’t get Reaves. He literally can’t play. He’s always behind the play. He can’t make a pass or get a shot off. If he touches the puck he just chips it up and turns it over.

The most offensive part is he doesn’t fight.

he should not be in the NHL. How are the Leafs serious?

He would struggle to stick on an ECHL roster as anything but 13th forward goon.
