Leafs seem to slowly be getting back to health but not really for tonight. Patches is back but Tavares, Knies, and Stolarz are still out. Sure seems like all of them will be back for saturday in EDM tho, so that's nice.

Thankfully the Wild are also banged up, most especially with Kaprizov now looking like he's unfortunately done for the season in a year where he was looking like a Hart candidate. Also the very good Brodin is out.

At one point this year Wild were looking fairly elite, but after an 18-4-4 start they've gone 11-13-0 in their last 24gms, It's not directly correlated with Kaprizov's injury - they actually went on a bit of a post-xmas run after he was injured, but now they're 3-7-0 in their last 10 with those 3 wins coming against CHI CHI PHI.

So the Leafs' injuries are no excuse.

Minten's getting another (undeserved) chance to center the 3rd line tonight, with it looks like Patches and Robby on his wings. I'm trying to not backlash against him too much because based on his junior profile i should never have expected him to be good enough to play in the bigs right now......but tbh he's been pretty terrible. And i'm starting to get my back up a bit because i'm getting the feeling that Bradrube are overvaluing his intangibles while I'm still hoping we can take advantage of another GM overvaluing his intangibles. Anyways hopefully Minten shows something tonight.

I'm taking Hoss Jr the boy to tonight's game. He's more into football than the NHL, but he grew up in my household so he knows his leafs, not as much as his sister though. I brainwashed her good and early

yeah overall we haven't been top-5 elite but we have mostly been comfortably top-10, despite being arguably the most injured team in the league.

they don't play a beautiful brand of hockey and the nerdies are thoroughly mediocre, but it's not exactly a situation that calls for constant doomsday posting.

Its mostly just talk. I fully expect them to make the playoffs AND get to at least the 2nd round. Hows that for optimism!!
