We have a fanbase that would rather see punches thrown than goals scored, and a media ecosystem built around twisting those fans nipples. All of this creates a weird feedback loop that pushes for the organization to do truly stupid shit to try to feed the fanbase what they want. When it sucks, no one involved ever has a fucking mea culpa wondering why "passion and heart" leads us to the bottom of the standings.

I was at Game 4. The Canucks shit-pumped the Leafs. All you had to do was watch the pregame warm-up. The Canucks were twice the size of the Leafs.
