Jackets have some motivation because they're in a playoffs race.....except that race is pretty much a bumfight.

9. NYR (.527): 5-4-1
10. CBJ (.520): 3-6-1
11. DET (.513): 4-5-1
12. NYI (.507): 4-4-2
Jackets actually have some good firepower, they just can't play D and the goalies stink too.
Of course, more importantly, the Jackets have absolutely HAMMERED us in both games this year, outscoring us by 4 goals in both games.
This is actually the biggest problem for the leafs this year - they stink against the bubble teams.
IMO there's 11 "contenders" this year and I don't know that there's much to pick between them - WPG WSH DAL VGK CAR TOR COL LAK TBL EDM FLA. If we split the rest of the league up into 11 bottom feeders, and then the 10 teams in the middle as the bubble teams (STL, MIN, OTT, NJD, CGY, MTL, VAN, NYR, UTA, CBJ), this is how we look:
Vs Top-11: 23gms, 100pt pace, +0.13gdiff/gm
Vs Mid-10: 24gms, 79pt pace, -0.42gdiff/gm
Vs Bot-11: 28gms, 132pt pace, +1.14gdiff/gm
All our issues come against the bubble teams this year.
Anyways, we are tied with CAR for 5th overall but CAR has the tiebreaker. VGK is a game ahead of us. It doesn't mean anything really but it would be a nice finishing touch on the season if we could move past one or both of those guys and finish 4th or 5th overall.
Obviously Kampf is no loss but McCabe missing is a killer. He better be healthy for the playoffs.
