And so begins another edition of Canes After Dark.

The Canes are riding an 8 game winning streak. Marty Necas is on fire, but his multi-point game streak was stopped on Thursday. RBA said Martin will definitely play on this roadie. With the travel snafu, maybe he goes tonight?

The Avs are struggling with 12 points in 14 games. They were shut out by Winnipeg on Thursday. But Nathan MacKinnon leads the league in scoring and Cale Makar leads all dmen. Makar left a game earlier in the week with a lower body injury but played more than 25 minutes on Thursday.

FanDuel for TV.

Injuries are just killing Colorado and the ripple effect of over-playing the few healthy impact players in an effort not to slide too much in the standards could honestly make it worse. They're asking Makar and McKinnon and Rantanen to play darned near half the game every game. Lehkonen just got off IR and he was out for 23 even strength minutes against the Jets. Yeah, that's absolutely sustainable ... on paper. In real life, not so much. I thought people were kidding when they included Jared Bednar on hot seat lists, but looking at their player usage during this injury crisis, I think I get it.

That said, Georgiev looks to have woken up a bit and Annunen has given them decent stopgap play in net while they're waiting. McKinnon and Makar aren't hurt, even if they're a bit road worn, and can change any shift, period or game if the spirit moves. Rantanen and Middlestadt are having good starts and getting Lehkonen back goes a long way to getting a proper checking line pulled together. A lot of the rest of the roster is held together with chewing gum and Ace bandages, but this team is still a tough out.

What I'm hinting at is this. If Carolina plays like they've played the last two games, they might lose by 5.

Complete radio silence from the Canes other than 4 pictures of the guys walking off the plane. So they made it to Denver.

Georgiev in goal for the Avs.

Nice switch to camera angle that completely did not see the goal. Sheesh. Just leave it on the main camera that is on center ice

Rantanen had a 100% guaranteed goal but just kind of lofted it into Martin's glove because he didn't want to suffer the wrath of the godfather of the Finnish hockey Mafia. Nobody wants a reindeer head in their bed courtesy of Sebastian Aho.
