GDT: CANES-FLYERS - BRIND'AMOUR NIGHT...

...in Flyerland. Can't believe no one has posted this seminal, world-shaking event. Weeelll, in Philly anyway. Canes Asst. Coach Rod Brind'Amour is being inducted into the Flyers Hall-of-Fame. Imagine that, the 14th Flyer to receive that honor - and 14 years after being traded from Phila.

FSN-CR is carrying the ceremony live, as well as 99.9 FM with Maniscalco. Then both teams take warm-ups and fce-of will be closer to 8:00 PM.

The game...? Who knows?

Nice ceremony by the Flyers. They unveiled a bust that will be in The Flyers Experience and a banner with the hall of fame inductees.

Lack in goal, Terry in for Gerbe on the 4th line.

Fell asleep watching this one... woke up in time to see Pesce score and tie it. Looking at box score... Staal coasting again, or god forbid... did he get hurt??

Once again the Canes show that when they go all out they can actually score goals and dominate for stretches, but they can/will only play that way in small doses. Certainly all of those good feelings about the Canes in OT are long gone, that's now just another opportunity for the Canes to fail.

Can't give up a short-handed goal and expect to win. Hockey gods don't allow that unless something heroic occurs to reverse the karma. And it didn't.

Six points over the last six games. But not 3-3 in a respectable win-some-lose-some manner. No, an ugly loser-point run of 1-1-4 instead.

We're right where we should be in the standings. Personnel changes needed.

The forwards on this team are just a joke. Lindholm is softer than charmin and that guy at this point in his career should be figuring things out at the NHL level. The Staal brothers need to be placed on milk cartons as LOST! When fourth line pluggers like Brad Malone are outplaying your multi-million dollar princesses you have big problems.

Blow it up!

Looks like we got a real gem with Pesce. The kid is a warrior out there with that one shift with multiple blocks, plus the beauty of a put back for the point we didn't deserve. The forwards are a mess with pretty much no chemistry between anybody other than the occasional checking line rumpus, ugly goal.It would seem we would have to make a decision on trading one of our young stud dmen for a few wingers who can physically get more involved and finish.

No get rid of the dreck first.

I mentioned a couple of observations - notably E. Staal being completely invisible on the stat sheet. But before I fell asleep, early on he did feed a couple of nice passes to that very ssame Lindholm who fired wide. The first one, standing just off the side of the net and he tried a pure wrist shot - like no - snap shot, quick release required here. He let the goalie get into position, lost his angle and shot wide trying to find a whole. The other one - pretty much a carbon copy except he was quicker on it. Not sure if I am ready to give up on Lindholm here though. Again, I want to see E. Staal situation resolved first and foremost before we consider giving up on Elias. Same with Skinner. Look at the Oilers and how long it has taken for their players to mature etc... all that talent, still doesn't replace experience.

Honestly, if we could pacakage either both Staals or E. Staal and Skinner or E. Staal and Ward for something in return I would really be happy.

Turned it off after 2 periods. And for once didn't give a crap that they came back and went to overtime. As others have mentioned here, the majority of our forwards look either disinterested or inept. I've been a Peters supporter so far but "i like what we've got and where we're going" is just making me feel even more that this situation will not get any better anytime soon. Glass half full has just passed the half empty mark!

I agree that I'm really concerned about Lindholm. I noticed the same thing that JamesNorthern did - he pretty much waited until he had no shot left and fired it wide. The kid can be a real sniper with a quick, almost invisible release, but I haven't seen that since his first goal of the season. Confidence? Hurt?

The best thing was to watch Pesce's development. He has earned his full-time spot on this roster. And so has Brad Malone. We're better when he's playing.

Yup. I saw absolutely nothing new last night. Same old, same old out of the forward group. The grunt guys grunted, while the "stars" floated. How the management of this franchise is content to watch the same thing over and over again is beyond me.
