The Canes wrap up a 4 day tour of the Metro with the Don Waddell Derby. Or the Jack Roslovic Derby. Or the Eric Robinson Derby.

This one should be a bit easier than the last. Unlike the Devils, the Jackets aren’t a threat to win the division. The Canes got goals from Roslovic and Svech on Thursday but old friend Dougie Hamilton and new nemesis Jesper Bratt broke the 3rd period tie. The team is skating this morning so we’ll see what the line combos are. Kochetkov should be in goal.

The Jackets are tied for 6th in the division with 18 points in 19 games. They’re 3-6-1 in their last 10 but those 3 wins have come in their last 4 games. They’re also coming off a wild 7-6 OT win over the Lightning on Thursday. Sean Monahan leads with 7 goals, but there are 4 guys with 6 right behind him. Zach Werenski has 13 assists with Monahan and Kiril Marchenko right behind with 12. Werenski and zminahan are averaging a point per game. Elvis Merzlikens has started 11 games in goal, he’s at 3.02/.895. He’s backed up by Daniil Tarasov, at 4.04/.861 in 8 games. The Jackets can score, 19th in the league, but they don’t defend very well, 30th in goals allowed. They’re 19th on the PP, 20th on the PK.

FanDuel for TV.

15-5 would be a very nice record to come home too and next week the Stars and Panthers are no walk in the park for the Canes, go get this one tonight and come home and enjoy some home cooking and a Turkey day break.

Lines are back to where they started. Jarvis did not join the team.

Svechnikov - Aho - Roslovic
Robinson - Kotkaniemi - Necas
Carrier - Staal - Martinook
Jost - Drury - Blake

Slavin - Burns
Orlov - Chatfield
Gostisbehere - Walker

The shine wore off of Columbus' feel good start with that 6 game losing streak but they've scored 19 goals in their last four games, so ... yeah. They can shoot the puck, for sure. Dean Eveson has them playing a hard nosed system in all three zones and without a ton of high end talent they all pitch in. It's not terribly different than the Canes game plan, honestly. More of a hybrid system in the D zone but otherwise, real similar. They look to recycle possession and make it real tough to break out of the zone with control. That can, and sometimes does, lead to bang bang rushes going the other way when a team escapes the forecheck ... again, not that different than what the Canes end up dealing with every night. So, it's a matter of execution. Finish some of those rush chances, impose your own pressure, mind your Ps and Qs. Oh, and stop taking dumb penalties at the worst possible time.

Wow just wow, that five hole was as big as you get.

And another…Two goals against on five shots, banner night in goal so far.

And I'm here wondering who I need to talk to, to have that horrible UNC Healthcare commercial thrown in the trashcan, permanently. I mean, it's just terrible. The fake Howard Cosell voice, the stock film, canned scenes, has what to do with healthcare exactly? I miss the Ford "beep beep". How long has this awful UNC commercial been part of the Canes games? 3 seasons?
