The Canes close out the roadie with a game against the woeful Blue Jackets. But it’s on national TV and we know how the Canes perform on that stage…

The Canes somehow conjured a win in St. Paul on Tuesday night. Kochetkov was stout in goal and they got just enough offense, and a break from the hockey gods, to win. Svech scored on a shot he largely whiffed on, Noesen scored off his visor, sometims the breaks go your way. We’ll see who goes in goal tonight, will Martin face his old team? He started 10 games for them before hitting the waiver wire.

The Jackets are bad, DFL in the East with 48 points in 58 games, 5 behind Ottawa. They’re 4-6 in their last 10 and are coming off a loss to the Rangers in New York last night. Boone Jenner leads with 18 goals, Johnny Gaudreau leads with 34 assists, but he only has 8 goals. He has 10 points in his last 8 games since the All Star break. Elvis Merzlikens has started 33 games in goal, he’s at 3.25/.903. He played last night so we’re likely to see backup Daniil Tarasov, who is at 3.65/.887 in 13 games. The Jackets are 22nd in goals per game, and 31st in goals against. They’re 29th on the PP and 25th on the PK.

ESPN+/Hulu for TV.

Yeah, Columbus is just all purpose bad this season. Their good players have been off, their middling players have been bad, their up and comers have been banged up and their depth players have been minor league caliber. They've had bad injury luck and their best sniper is in rehab. Their big name coach didn't make it to camp and their GM got the axe mid season. Collectively, they're rocking a minus 17 expected goals differential which is so bad it's actually impressive. Other than those poor souls who have already paid up their season ticket packages, anybody who willingly spends money to watch this team probably needs a pysch eval, and yet ... it's the NHL and stuff happens so this is by no means a phone it in job for the Canes.

.......and are coming off a loss to the Rangers in New York last night. ....

Note however that the last home game Columbus played 5 days ago they beat the NYR 4-2.

Canes need to outwork and outskill these guys (and hope not to get goalied)

This might be a game to listen to on the radio and watch on TV. John Buccigross and AJ Mleczko have the call on ESPN.

ESPN, I am Still waiting for the review shot.. I know it was but give me the shot and that high angle view is not proof.
