#CanesAfterDark begins again, on National TV
The Canes did everything but score against Winnipeg on Monday night. Raanta returned to goal and was solid, allowing 2 goals should always be enough to get a win. They practiced yesterday but no word on which goalie was in the starter’s crease, so we’ll see at the morning skate.
Edmonton may have turned the corner on their season. They’ve won 4 straight; their last loss was to the Canes on Thanksgiving Eve. They’ve also had a mini bye week in their schedule. Their last game was in Winnipeg on November 30. They’re still 7th in the Pacific with 19 points in 22 games. Connor McDavid has come alive during their winning streak, he has 13 points in those 4 games, but only 2 goals. Zach Hyman leads with 12 goals, he had a pair against the Canes in November. Evander Kane is right behind with 11, Leon Draisaitl has 10. McDavid leads with 21 assists. Stuart Skinner has started 16 games in goal, he’s at 3.16/.881. He got the loss here, giving up 4 goals on 16 shots and was gone before the 1st period was over. He started their next 4 games and has been better, with a shutout and 2 other games with above .913 save %. With the long layoff, I’d expect him in goal tonight. The Oilers are 13th in goals per game at 3.32. But they’ve averaged 5.25 in the last 4 games. They’re 29th in goals against. Their PP is 6th, but they’ve hit 46.7% on their 4 game winning streak. Their PK is 19th but they‘re at 93.8% over their last 4 games.
TNT for TV, with Forslund, Panger and Aly Lozoff.
