There isn’t anything to like about them. I can appreciate Barlov, but whatever positive attributes he brings to the table are more than offset by the sheer volume of douchebaggery that Tkachuk and Bennett bring.God, I hate the panthers
It's a deep visceral hate. And when you get killed by them it's somehow even worse.God, I hate the panthers
Maybe just maybe this wakes up the front office even more to understand that Martin isn’t even a viable backup and needs to be in Chicago full time. And the worse that this team does with the AHL level goaltending, the more that they'll have to spend to get a decent goalie.
Can’t pin this one on Martin, everyine in front of him was garbage. After a scoreless first period, in which the Canes outshot the Panthers 11-9, the Canes took 9 shots total the rest of the game, including 2 in the 3rd period. The first shot in the 3rd was at 3:15, the last shot was at 19:36.Maybe just maybe this wakes up the front office even more to understand that Martin isn’t even a viable backup and needs to be in Chicago full time.

TruthAs much as Martin reminded me of Frank Pietrangelo circa 1992-93 the last two games, I'd be remiss if I didn't remind the Canes offense that you can't win a game if you don't score.
True, but we've been here before and it's unsettling to the entire system when they're playing in front of a goalie that can't be trusted. Call it a butterfly effect or a snowball effect ... whatever. I think it's more like skiing down a slope you aren't qualified to handle. Can’t pin this one on Martin, everyine in front of him was garbage. Not qualified to handle is a good way to assess Martin many a nights so far...in a pinch he's fine, every day or even every third game is not really what you want or need.True, but we've been here before and it's unsettling to the entire system when they're playing in front of a goalie that can't be trusted. Yeah ... he's a third option being thrust into a first option role for a hot minute. Take a look around the rest of the league's third options and you'll find a bunch of guys like Martin. He's not the problem, or at least he's not supposed to be the problem for long. Not qualified to handle is a good way to assess Martin many a nights so far...in a pinch he's fine, every day or even every third game is not really what you want or need.
Hoping it was a shorter hot minute than what we've already endured. The most memorable time when the team covered for a goaltender they did know/trust was (Hurricanes Legend) David Ayres. He let a couple in a couple of easy ones and the team locked the Leafs down in front of him. That hasn't & shouldn't have to be happening in front of Martin. Florida is a much tougher team to do that to, I'd wager. It definitely exposes a massive fault in the Hurricanes goalie development. Like jeffbear said, third string netminders are where they are for a reason. Given Freddy Andersen's fragile nature, they might have guessed it could come to this. Situationally unaware much? *just how I see it*Yeah ... he's a third option being thrust into a first option role for a hot minute. We didn’t send him packing, he was a UFA. We had Andersen, Raanta and Kochetkov, so he probably took a look at the roster, saw there was no room at the inn and signed with the Panthers.I see Alex Lyon still out there and remember him being capable when he played for Carolina. What was it that caused him to be sent packing and not given another look? I just don't remember him ever stinking the joint up, but please consider that memory isn't exactly what it may have been.
