GDT: Canes @ Sharks 3/20 10:30

I called that one my piss break game! Did not watch a second, wake up at 1:30am for a leak, watch the goals on my phone, another two points, drain the lizard and call it a good night!!!

I could make it only through the first period and I knew going into it that it was going to be ugly since they had almost a week off.

After watching the game highlights on Youtube:
Jackson Blake had a nice game and just like Jarvy of a few seasons ago, I hope he remains positive 'n patient and knows that the goals will start coming with more hard work. That called-off goal was so beautiful and his other attempts were oh-so-close.

I love Taylor Hall. After the trade and the deadline deal and all of the noise that came with it, he's just kept his head down and has done the work to help this team win.

Shame Blake lost that goal on the challenge because he was really sharp all game. I've noticed the last 5 or 6 games that Brind'Amour has taken a page from the way John Hynes used to use Hall in his stint with the Devils. Hall is playing kind of a hybrid role where he takes on most of the center's role in the O zone and KK picks up the work in the D zone. That's what the Devils used to do with Hall and Hischier back when Hischier was a rookie. Hall's not on that same level anymore in terms of point production, but he's so good pressuring the puck in the O zone that it's really making a difference in that line's territorial game.

Meanwhile the Devils blew a huge lead at home last night and give up four third period goals and lose again. Columbus has also cooled in the Metro. Could the Habs and Sens be the Wildcard entries and push Dandy Don right out...

Did I read the Canes are trying to extend Hall? He sure looks good out there.
So long as he's willing to take a one or two year deal, that should be pretty easy. He's said that he's tired of bouncing around and he really fits the system here.

Islanders are refusing to go away and you'd figure with a veteran core, they aren't going to give up the chase. Not sure what the heck is going on with the Rangers, but they're annoying so they probably will make a push eventually. Shesterkin is playing well again, which will help them. I just don't trust the teams that haven't been in the mix in a long time to both see it through. Ottawa seems to have settled in but they've blown enough opportunities that I don't trust them. Nothing about Montreal's setup offers much trust either, as they've run hot and cold all season.

It does look like Detroit and Columbus are self-selecting themselves as outsiders.

Didn't watch - have to get my foreign exchange student to school at 7 am, so I'll likely wimp out of these late games. Winning is fun.
