The Canes look to extended their season-long point streak to 7 games.

The awful western Canada road trip is in the rear view mirror and the Canes are 3-0-3 since coming back to the eastern time zone. That still leaves them 3-4-3 in their last 10, with 38 points in 33 games, 1 behind the Isles with 1 more game played. RBA shuffled the lines again yesterday, looking for some offense, they've only scored 1 goal in each of the most recent shootout losses. Teravainen rejoined Aho and Jarvis, Svech moved up with KK and Necas and Noesen moved back to Drury’s wing. No changes on defense.

The Isles are hot, 6-1-3 in their last 10, 1 point behind the Flyers and 1 point ahead of the Canes and Caps. Horvat, Nelson, Dobson and Barzal are all averaging more than a point per game over that stretch. Horvat has 6 goals, Dobson has 12 assists. Sorokin hasn’t regained last season’s form, he’s at 3.04/.914 on the season. Varlamov is at 2.75/.919. The Isles are averaging 3.80 goals per game over their last 10, tied for 4th best in the league. But they’re not stopping a lot of shots, allowing 3.20 goals per game, 18th in the league. On the season, they’re 19th and 17th, respectively. Their PP is good, 6th in the league but their PK is bad, 31st at 71.9%

Red jerseys tonight. Note the late start. State has a basketball game at 1:30, so the ice should be wonderful tonight. Bally Sports South for TV.

Good test for the Canes' general team resolve. It always takes a lot of work to break down the Isles defensive systems, only to face off with a very consistent keeper once you do. Patience isn't a virtue so much as a requirement, and that has been a problem for the Hurricanes all season long.
